Who do I contact for inquiries with water, sewer, or trash?

Contact the City of Roxboro Public Service Clearinghouse at 336-599-5658. This line is available 24/7 for emergencies. 

Opening/Relocating your business in the City of Roxboro?

All businesses opening a new location, second location, or relocating from an existing facility are required to obtain a zoning permit prior to opening for business. Permits can be obtained by visiting www.cityofroxboro.com/permits OR by contacting a member of the City’s Planning & Development Department at planning@cityofroxboro.com or 336-599-3116. We are happy to assist with any questions or concerns. Proper planning will save you time and money.

If your business will have signage, additional permitting may be required for the installation of signs. Contact a member of the City’s Planning & Development Department, at the above email address, to learn more about the sign ordinance and permitting requirements.

In addition to zoning approval for your business and signage, you may also need inspections, permits, or approvals from the following agencies.

Person County Building Inspections (building permits, trade permits, compliance inspections, etc.) – 336-597-0570

Person County Environmental Health (food service requirements, childcare operating requirements, hair/nail salon services, etc.) – 336-597-1790

Who do I contact with inquiries about boat and dock permits for Lake Roxboro (Isaac Walton) and City Lake?

If you would like additional information or to purchase a permit for your boat, dock, or ramp- please complete an application (provided at Lake Roxboro/City Lake | City of Roxboro, NC) and return to PO Box 128 Roxboro NC 27573 or at 105 S. Lamar Street. 

How do I find out about job openings and apply for a career at the City of Roxboro?

Job opportunities are posted in the lobby of City Hall, advertised on the City of Roxboro website: Employment Opportunities | City of Roxboro, NC, and in the Roxboro Courier-Times newspaper. Applications are available online  or can be picked up at 105 S. Lamar Street (Monday-Friday 8am-5pm). Applications will be reviewed after the "closing date" of the ad and review. Human Resources will contact applicants via a letter or telephone call. 

How do I correspond with City of Roxboro Management and/or Elected Officials?

The City of Roxboro operates under a Council-Manager Form of Government. The City Manager oversees the daily activities of Administrative Staff and is managed by the elected Mayor and City Council. Mayor and City Council members do not have offices within the City Municipal/City Hall building. You may contact City Manager Lockhart at blockhart@cityofroxboro.com or 336-599-3116 ext. 8, Mayor and City Council directly (Mayor and Council Members Information | City of Roxboro, NC), or contact the City Clerk at clerk@cityofroxboro.com or 336-322-6011. We invite you to attend the monthly City Council meetings, scheduled the 2nd Tuesday (unless otherwise advertised).
