Flood Risk Information

Post Date:08/22/2025 3:31 PM

In the wake of multiple flooding events across the state and even in Person County, the City of Roxboro wants to educate members of the public about flood risk information and mitigation resources available to property owners.

The State of North Carolina maintains a website, available to all members of the public at no cost, that contains flood hazard data, models, maps, risk assessments, and reports that are database driven. You can visit fris.nc.gov and search by the address of your property to determine if your home or business is located in a mapped flood hazard area. If your property is located in a mapped hazard area, there are tools available on the website to help you determine what level of risk is identified for your property, what mitigation actions you can take to reduce your risk, and more.

If you have questions about the FRIS (Flood Risk Information System) website or specific flood hazard risks for your property that is inside the City of Roxboro’s corporate limits, you may call or email the City of Roxboro’s Planning Department at 336-322-6030 or planning@cityofroxboro.com
