Uptown Roxboro Strategic Streetscape Plan
In October of 2022, the City of Roxboro put out a request for qualified consultants to assist the City in developing a comprehensive streetscape plan for the Uptown Business District. This plan is also intended to include gateway areas on the periphery of the district. The goals of the project included investigation of basic and current conditions and a detailed streetscape improvement plan. The streetscape plan would provide increased pedestrian access and safety, increased utilization of public space, and enhanced beautification of the area. Key elements highlighted by the City to be studied include, but are not limited to, the following: Landscape, Parking, Crosswalks, Outdoor Seating, Historic Preservation, Multi-modal Transportation, Utility Improvements, and other related infrastructure improvements. The plan will serve as a blueprint for long term improvements in Roxboro's Uptown District and will further the City's vision to create an inviting environment with opportunities that will add value to the community of Roxboro. A design consultant from TranSystems shared a presentation on the planning process and analysis at the July 11, 2023, City Council meeting. Public input is very important in the future planning process. A master plan will be shared at the August City Council meeting.
