National Night Out

The 22nd National Night Out

This unique crime/drug prevention event sponsored by National Association of Town Watch. National Night Out is designed to:
Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs;

Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

The Roxboro Police Department held its first annual National Night Out celebration on Tuesday, August 2, 2005 at Huck Sansbury Park. We were pleased with the number of citizens that came out in support of this event and we are hoping that more will participate next year.
A special thanks goes out to all the agencies that participated with us in this event. All of these organizations are vital to the job that we do each day. Coming together to share with the community helped to reinforce the teamwork that we attempt to achieve each day. Without Sheriff Dennis Oakley’s and Sergeant Jimmy Burns’ participation, our Law Enforcement Lawn Mower Challenge would not have been possible.

We would like to express our gratitude to the businesses that helped sponsor this event by donating food and drink items. Pepsi Cola Bottling Co., IGA Foodliner, Food Lion, Wal-Mart, and Hardee’s all contributed items to this event.
We are already looking forward to next year’s National Night Out event.
