How do I take out a
warrant on someone? How long do I have to take out
a warrant?
Go to the Magistrate's
office and speak with the magistrate on duty. You
will be sworn in and given the opportunity to give
your testimony. The magistrate will then determine
whether or not to issue a warrant. On misdemeanor
offenses, you have up to two years from the date
of the occurrence. On felony charges, you have up
to seven years for a warrant to be issued, but felony
charges have to be investigated by a law enforcement
officer before a warrant may be issued. |
|
Why did
an officer tell me to take out a warrant on someone
instead of just arresting him right there?
There are only certain misdemeanor
offenses that an officer can arrest for that occur outside
of his or her presence. Unless it is one of those
offenses, you will be required to obtain a warrant
before the officer can make an arrest. |

in our neighborhood. What can we do about it?
In response

Roxboro City Council has approved a new policy

measures. Contact the Police Department
and ask to speak with the District Commander for
that area and explain your concerns in regard to
speeding. |
