Finance Director: Roxboro (8,876). Northern Piedmont Region of North Carolina along the Virginia Border location. Plans and directs the disbursement and accounting of revenues and expenditures for the City. Work involves supervision of the budget, accounting, customer services, collections, billing, computer and payroll operations. In addition, the employee attends meetings of the City Council to present requested financial reports and information and is responsible for the risk management functions for the City. The employee must exercise considerable independent judgment and initiative in planning and directing the fiscal control system and negotiation skills. Oversees the financial administration of Federal and State grants and loans. Handles investments for the City; researches financial data and shifts funds to ensure the City maintains a high rating. Work is performed in accordance with established municipal finance procedures, local ordinances, and North Carolina General Statutes governing the responsibilities of local government financial operations. Requirements preferred are a CPA, graduation from a four year college or university with a degree in accounting or business and considerable experience in public finance, audits, administration including some supervisory experience.
Hiring range: $67,191 - $70,550, plus benefits

Police Officer:
Performs law enforcement
work in the municipal Police Department.
Must be a citizen of US, 21 years of age, high
school graduate, preferably a two-year associate
degree and no criminal record, except for minor
traffic offenses. Good moral character and
good physical condition. Chosen applicant
will be certified as a police officer upon
completion of 504+ hours of Basic Law
Enforcement Training, drug screening, medical
and psychological examination, background
investigation, and fingerprint check.
Applicants may apply without Basic Law
Enforcement Training, however, preference will
be given to applicants that have completed 504 +
hours of Basic Law Enforcement Training.
Hiring rate: $33,935.
Applicants without Basic Law Enforcement Training
will be hired two salary grades below hiring rate of
Police Officer.

Chief of Police: Roxboro (8,876). Northern Piedmont of North Carolina

candidate must have 10 yrs of law enforcement
experience, incl. a min. of 5 yrs. in a mid/upper
managerial and supervisory role. Dept. of 34 sworn
officers, 3 administrative personnel, 1 animal
control officers and 1 parking enforcement officer.
Annual department operating budget of $2.5 million.
Desire a progressive community leader with high
ethical standards, ability to build/maintain
effective working relationships with citizens,
staff, and elected officials. Applicant should
have a combination of education and experience
equivalent to associate's degree in criminal
justice, police science and/or related field,
supplemented by advanced courses in police
administration and considerable experience in
municipal law enforcement activities. Also,
must possess a NC Advanced Law Enforcement
Certification and completed minimum requirements
established by the NC Justice Training and Standards
Council for certified law enforcement officers.
Hiring range: $67,191 - $70,550, plus benefits.

Treatment Plant Operator:
Performs responsible operational and maintenance
functions in a wastewater treatment plant
designed to safely dispose of domestic and
commercial waste materials. Work includes
monitoring the plant's operation through
observation, mechanical readings and the results
of standard chemical and biological test and
making necessary adjustments in the process as
conditions or test results dictate. Graduation
from high school supplemented by course work in
chemistry or biology and a Wastewater Treatment
Plant Operator's Grade I level of certification
from the State of North Carolina and preference
will be given to applicants that possess this
certification. Safety-sensitive position.
Hiring Rate: $30,780
Applicants without the certification shall be
employed as a Trainee two salary grades below
the level of the Treatment Plant Operator.
