Business Decisions

•Decide on an ownership structure (Corporation, Partnership, etc.) and have legal documents written and filed

•Check with Insurance Agent regarding necessary insurance coverage (auto, property, workers compensation, liability, etc.)

•Consult, if necessary, with appropriate professionals (Attorney, Accountant/CPA, Banker, etc.)

City of Roxboro Business License

•Apply for a City of Roxboro Business License at City Hall located at 105 South Lamar Street, (336) 599-3116. Application forms can be obtained at this website, at City Hall, or you may request that one be mailed to you.

Zoning Laws, Land Use Ordinances, Building and Fire Codes

• Check Fire Permit requirements at (336) 599-9222 or (336) 599-3116 ext. 236.

• Check zoning regulations that might apply to your business activity and location with Planning and Zoning at (336) 599-3116 ext. 233.

• Check and make sure that the location selected for your business meets the current codes for the proposed use with Planning and Zoning at (336) 599-3116 ext. 233.

Apply for the following
(if required)

• State Employer Tax Identification Number

• Federal Identification Tax Number-Form SS4

• Obtain other necessary permits or licenses from county, state, and federal governments.

• Resale License or Seller's Permit

• Employment Security Commission
